Fairmont St Andrews Golf Resort and Spa (5 Star).

The Resort.

Having recently completed a 13 million pound refurbishment, the Fairmont St Andrews has consolidated its position at the top table of 5 star European Golf Resorts. There are now two types of accommodation at Fairmont St Andrews - guest rooms in the main hotel and manor homes.
Each of the 209 generous guestrooms are stylish, spacious and comfortable with the very latest in room amenities and five star services at your fingertips.
The Manor Homes are of a modern open plan design, situated next to the Torrance Course, sharing the same breathtaking views as the resort. Each Manor Home has four large en-suite bedrooms, a farmhouse style kitchen, luxurious living room, dining room and a fully equipped business office.
Fairmont St Andrews has also just announced the launch of its new stylish signature Spa following a 2.5m refurbishment. Guests can indulge themselves in a full range of body and beauty treatments, including a fusion of luxurious signature therapies performed using Kerstin Florian products.
And if that isn't enough, there is also the opportunity to keep fit in the extended and beautifully designed fitness area which includes state-of-the-art gym equipment, relaxing afterwards in the steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi and 16 metre indoor swimming pool. Access to the health club is complimentary for all registered guests.
There's an excellent choice of restaurants at Fairmont St Andrews including The Squire which offers a relaxed and hospitable dining experience. For afternoon tea or a light snack try the Kittock's Den or the Clubhouse that over looks the resort grounds out to the North Sea. For the non golfer there are many local attractions such as castles, distilleries, museum's, sea life aquarium, woollen mills and The Byre Theatre, as well as the opportunity to explore the city of St Andrews and the rugged coastline of the Kingdom of Fife.

The Courses.

Kittocks.
7049Yards, Par 72.
The Kittocks Course (formely the Devlin) is a testament to Bruce Devlin's experience and expertise. It is a truly magnificent championship course that sweeps its way along the rugged seaside landscape overlooking St Andrews.
At 7049 yards, par 72, the back tees would require a player of a high standard however with 4 areas to choose from there is a tee to suit golfers of all abilities.
Kittocks name is taken from the SSSI area of land on the course that is inhabited by a family of deer. This protected area comes into view on several holes and provides abundant wildlife to be seen during a round on Kittocks, including pheasants, rabbits and hares, deer, grouse and badgers.

Torrance.
Since opening in 2001, the Torrance course has been named as the Final Qualifying course for the 2010 Open Championship and has hosted many internationally recognized events.
The Torrance closed on the 7th January 2008 with work beginning immediately, with a targeted re-opening in early spring 2009. The extent of the works being completed includes rebuilding of every tee to improve drainage and turf conditions, and relocation of some tees to enhance hole playability. The project will also include new irrigation systems and drainage to improve turf consistency and the player experience.
In addition to the relocation of specific tees, design enhancements will be made on a number of the existing holes. The Stephenson redesign will include classic revetted bunkering throughout the course. These steps will be complemented by an extensive planting programme for gorse, fescue and other native plants; as well as enhanced wetland and wildlife habitat areas on the course. Through all these changes, the length of the Torrance will remain from 5,200 at the front tees to slightly over 7,000 yards at the championship tees.
